Busy,busier, busiest

Busy, busy, busy. Too many things to take care of in too short a time. 4 important meetings just round the corner and 4 different notes to prepare. Tommorow is another day out of school for the trial exams papers. Am trying out the new software on the timetable. Seems to be user friendly.

Besides that , gotta prepare the notes for teaching. Am taking over the upper six class. But we re not connecting la. I sensed hostility . maybe they are not used to my style of teaching. Told them my thoughts. Hope it will be better the next time i see them. Having said that, I am enjoying my time with the lower six students. More responsive and i suspect more intelligent.

It has been quite a day a work. But the atmosphere is less tensed today. Everyone getting on with what they are doing. Sad to have to say goodbye to one of the office staff who is moving to another school. Well next week it will be farewell to our cc , a super efficient lady, also due to promotion. Not good, not good at all.

My father

Father's Day . Remembering and celebrating father's day is an event that is quite recent on everyone's calender, I think. Since it became a media-hyped thing do we all Malaysians join in on the bandwagon. Anyway, what I am trying to say is that , showing one's appreciation towards one's parents the present way is quite not to say rare, but not so Melayu or perhaps Asian so to speak.

Traditionally Asians, Malays included, are quite reserved in their show of appreciation towards their elders. To speak freely in fact, to any of their parents was quite a taboo practice. Between the mother and father, the father is the most feared of the two. Most fathers , being the breadwinner of the family are given the highest position in the family hierachy . No one is allowed to answer back at any of the parents' kata-kata. Doing so would be labeled as kurang ajar and sometimes derhaka.

Times have changed . Globalisation and exposure to the outside world through the big idiot box , and another newer cyberspaced idiot box have liberalised alot of us.

My father ,as I remember , was also a very strict man. But actually ,the word is not strict. I feared him but at the same time , between him and mak, I think then, I was closer to him than mak. . He was a man of not many words but sometimes he can be quite amusing especially when he is in his lighter moods. The gila-gila streak, so to speak, that is in all of us comes from pak. Defintely not mak. Mak is strict . Pak is accomodating. Maybe, its because a girl is supposed to be the apple of her father's eye. Oh my, he has 7 apples in his eyes then !!

Anyway, I can go on talking about him endlessly. There are so many fond memories of him. Now that I am adult myself with children of my own, I can understand the struggles that they both went through especially pak, with nine children and as the sole breadwinner of the family , it must have been tough on him. But never once did he ever not give me what I asked for. I remember when I was in Assunta Form 2, I joined the swimming class , on the first day I jumped into the pool in my shorts and t-shirt. I was the only one in that attire. So, I asked him if I could have a swimming suit. Within the following week, I remember, he took me to new town PJ to get a blue swim suit and that was immediately after his office hours. He chose and paid for it.

His favorite song aha-- "Oh siapa, dimana, Siti Zaleha " . The part Siti Zaleha is stretched out - Siiitiii Zaaleeeehaaaa. I don't know the significant of the name Siti Zaleha. Must ask mak.

Like kak said, 2 days ago, when the idiot box was not in every family's household, pak and mak and all of us would sit outside the house , at night ,just enjoying the night air. We children will be doing our own thing while pak and mak would be sitting in the plastic ratten -like sofa chair ,with pak's legs crossed and and the crossed legs will be twiterring non-stop.

What else have we all inherited from pak? I think the most obvious is his work culture. He always gave his 101% in whatever he did. When it came to work, he was a no nonsense man. He was much feared by his staff but yet , their welfare was his utmost concern.

Well pak, if i could say it to you now, I would like to tell you, I Love You. I love you for putting your family first, the sacrifices that you made, I appreciate and salute you. The struggles that you both went through , I will remember them always. Pak, I have my moments of weaknesses, many in fact. I am so sorry for letting you down during those times. You never once , gave up on any of your children, despite the heartaches and perhaps headaches that you both had to endure , until we come to our senses . I am so sorry our payback time wasn't long with you. But you are always in our prayers . My doa to you, that Allah akan mencucuri rahmat ke atas roh mu pak, that He will place you amongst 'orang-orang yang beriman.' Amin. Al- Fatihah.

Father's day or all mummys getting together day?

Its just round the corner again. And not one that I look forward to on an extended family basis. Mothers' day is okay. All the wans sisters are united and excited to come together , eat, eat, eat, laugh, laugh, laugh, and do anything silly. But fathers's day? Well..... thats another story.

Until all the men in the family sort out what they have to sort out, it will be confined to just good ole hubby, good ole bro-in-law zubir and sometimes good ole bro-in-law Imran. Full stop. Other fathers? well, good ole bro -in law sabri is in Kuantan ( excused, too far) good ole kid bro Aziz is in Astar ( also excused cos too far), good ole big bro, well sometimes yes, most of the times no. Hope those others who are reading are not offended by this post. But hey, time to move on and close ranks. Super bloated, elated egos is no good la.. Let bygones be bygones. What la.....

So dear bro in law sanusi and abg din. Lets us all make this year's father's day a grand day, more grand than us mother's day. Time is not on our side. We're all getting older by the minute. Tomorrow is nowhere round the corner. Lets us celebrate our love and lives together.
How about it?

Happy Father's Day to all the menfolk in the Wan family . To the father to be, also happy father's day to be to you too. ? But its okay. Lets us makan, makan, makan. Gelak,gelak,gelak....yea!!

Bedknobs and broomsticks II

Today has been another long and tiring day. But alot better than yesterday and the day before. Cos I' ve finally realised why i have been feeling so tensed these last few weeks. It is not so much the changes that are taking place. It is actually the rapid number of changes all happening at the same time that it becomes impossible to cope. Questions keep popping in my mind as to the necessity of making some of the changes. Its like what was done earlier on was no good at all or it was all so wrong? Anyway, as subordinates we 're expected to obey orders. Full stop. Oh well, if I am able to constantly remind myself that it needs to be done as instructed, then I suppose it will be okay soon. Got better things to think of. Everyone is giving morale support to one another. Its a good feeling that that oneness is still intact amongs us. We re still enjoying each other's company, We re still laughing over silly things ,its wonderful to be in the company of wonderful subordinates. The comradeship is still close amongst us.

On another note, its going to be another sad goodbye to one of the office staf. She finally got her transfer to a school closer to home. Going to miss her. Come Monday next week, the chief clerk will learn of her new posting. Probably she too will be transfered out cos of promotion to a higher grade.

Wish I could do the same. Oh well...

!!!!!!!!!!

The start of a new link to the family tree . Am happy for the both of you. Aisyah, if your reading this post, if you think i am not displaying that look of 'excited' about the news, you're wrong. Maybe its something to do with my upbringing. Your toks, my father and mother, have instilled in his children that sometimes under certain situations, we have to learn to hold back our emotions. Some pantangs orang tua- tua . Nanti tak jadi kata orang tua-tua kalau terlalu beria ia.

I want to tell you this,my dearest daughter, i will be there to lend you a helping hand, whenever if you feel the need to. Otherwise, i will try not to be the interfering old lady.

I feel blessed to be surrounded with wonderful children and loved ones. well, we have our moments of ups and downs. But that is life. the experiences gathered will i hope remind us of the do's and don't's should we go through the same path sometime in our future. I hope that when you do go through the same path that i have taken, you will sail through it effortlessly. But remember this, sometimes what we wished for do not come that easily. maybe you wished that as a mother, i could have done a few things otherwise. But believe me dear, sometimes our wishlist will just remain as wishlist. If only we can do things exactly as we want them to, it would be wonderful. But sometimes the almighty has his plans , which by the way is not revealed to us the minute we are born. Some people are luckier than others, some people make better decisons than others. But whatever, one thing that i will always rely on is , my instincts.

So dearest daughter of mine, i wish you both the very best of everthing. am looking forward to the new phase in my life.Thank you.

Bedknobs and broomsticks

Can't figure out what is REALLY going on around me. Am Flabergasted. Am sad ,am feeling very very low. Its true then. That fact that I am still not doing enough . A blow to one's self confidence . Am beginning to believe the fact that i shouldn't be where i am right now, not good enough, per se.

Its so so depressing, to be trapped in this situation and no able to get out of it.

If I am able to turn back the clock, would i want to be where i am right now? I dont suppose so.

first day of school holiday

The school holidays are here. Its a good feeling to be able to take things easy for a change. To be able to spend hours on the net surfing ,reading, getting updated with a lot of new stuffs. Oh well, it feels great. But having said that, it was still a trip back to school to sort out a few things this morning. No one around except for the office staff. Kinda of dissapointed.

On a happier note, got a nice note from lil sis. looking forward to her presence . Gotta alot of catching up to do.

Dah lama tak menjengah masuk dalam laman ni. Dah lama dah tak buat postings. Sebenarnya masih     giat menulis . Merakam peristiwa yang be...
