4 kati or 4 kilo
Ever since i was young and from the time i could recall,it has always been the number 4. Back then it was 4 kati. Mak would always use the term 4 kati. Being a large family, sometimes, most of the times i think, we would squabble over the last piece of the biskut krim krakers, or the last strand of beehoon on the plate. and mak without fail would always say her famous words to quote " besok mak beli 4 kati or besok mak masak 4 kati."
So now, after many many more years later, i am stuck with that particular number, as far as cooking or food is concern. Its like 4 kilos( no more katis) of beef or 4 kilos of fish or what ever. So, 4 kilos is like a lot. More than 4 katis, cos 600 gms is equivalent to 1 kati, so i kilo is almost 1.4 kati.
But anyway, the day before Ramadan, at almost 4 pm in the afternoon, i embarked on a sambal lengkong ( serunding ikan ) making session. Knowing that making serunding is a tedious process, i still had to do it. Without fail, every year i would normally prepare either 4 kilos of fish of 4 kilos of beef serunding. But this year, the last few days of Syaaban had been most testing and tiring ever.
Today is day 3 of Ramadan, and 2 kilos of the sambal is consumed. A little bit here, a liitle bit there , from 2 full tupperware full, down to a 3/4 full . What do I do now. Embark on another serunding making session ? Ehmm.....
Another 4 kilo?

To Buy Or Not To Buy, To Indulge Or Not To....
An IT Gadget freak , i am. So to to indulge or not to indulge.Quite convenient to have a 24/7 RM50.00 no limits usage on my mobile. But then again, every time i need to make a phone call, gotta change my sim card.
So to indulge or not to indulge.... so difficult to decide now.

2 down
Its another sad day for the wan family. Today we said goodbye to the eldest of my mother's family, i.e my uncle Pak Ngah, the second in the Dato Hj Wan Ismail's and Che Sophia's family but the first among the boys.He died after almost 4 months struggle with leukemia, added on with complications from pneumonia. A sad day indeed. Of the many siblings, only 4 were present, the rest in hometown Astar.
Pak Ngah, as i know him, was a most jovial, pleasant and accommodating uncle. Can't remember him losing his temper ever, always smiling, cracking jokes now and then. His is a closely knit family. As cousins, I was closest to his eldest daughter. We were great mates when we were a lot younger. Those days when Tok haji would drive us in his car to places like Gunung Jerai and Pantai Merdeka and alot more. Times have changed. we hardly see each other except for special occasions .
Wish we could meet up more often. Too cooped up with career. Time is running out.
Gotta plan that family gathering soon. The last time never materialised. Will make it my personal mission to make it happen, insyallah.
Pak Ngah, Semoga ALLAH mencucuri rahmat ke atas roh mu.Al fatihah.
