Untuk Renungan

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'

DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.

SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the man said angrily.

SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'

SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down! .

SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

Are you asleep, son?' He asked.

No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man.
'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' he yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.

'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

Not good enough

Not good enough.Confirmed. What more can I say.
Que Sera Sera.
Move on.

360 degrees

Memories - of the way we were. When we were kids with no worries in the world. The world was ours and the future was ours. Those were the days ,when, like the lyrics to the song below, when we thought we could go on forever being what we are.

Alas , the future is now here with us. The world is no longer ours and the future after this is no longer ours to predict.

Reality of the real world is hitting me hard and fast. What I thought would go forever is coming to a close. What goes up must come down. Life is a 360 degrees circle. Expect the inevitable to happen. It could be just round the corner. It could be round many many many more corners. Who are we to predict the future. Qada dan qadar is the inevitable.

if only we were born with a schedule of how our life will be , when and where, how and what. But alas it is not to be.

What i had and what i had gone through will be forever cherished.

Memories... light the corner of my mind...

Mmm. Mmm.
Memories, light the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories of the way we were.
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind
smiles we give to one another
for the way we were.
Can it be that it was all so simple then
or has time rewritten every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
tell me would we? Could we?
Memories, may be beautiful and yet
what's too painful to remember
we simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter we will remember
whenever we remember
the way we were.

The Day after

The Day after the kursus. So many things have happened within the last 24 hours or so. Its my first son's 28th birthday today. Quite an old chap already, now, aren't you? Today too the house was visited by the police 3 times within a space of three hours this morning. These handbag- parang slashing snatch thieves is getting all too rampant and out of control. No mercy on the victims at all. These people involved are getting more and more merciless and heartless. And to come back the second time round to work on the car is really, really way out and beyond comprehension. Traumatised victims and non victims alike . what do they care, these heartless and spineless good for nothing bums. They get a high everytime they get to swing the parang high and slish slash the wrists of their victims. If i can my hand on one of them, i'm going to slish slash whatever parts that i lay my parang on, an once that is done will i only turn them over to the law keepers.

Nothing and nowhere is safe now. The lawkeepers are saying that there isn't much that can be done. Catch one gang, another new group will crop up and it goes on and on.
Who to blame, the education system for failing to nurture good values, law abiding modal insan? The goverment for being too much involved in image building and making too many politically driven decisions that other things are shelved aside?

Something need to be done. Those days of trouble free evening walks around the neighbourhood are gone. people are getting more and more afraid to be on the roads more than necessary. If standing outside one's gate is becoming a risky thing, very soon, being in one's house is also going to be risky and unsafe, tell me, where and what is safe now? Drastic measures need to be taken. Do something please, dear top people before things really go out of hand. Let's go for a safe malaysia before everthing else. Let's go back to the basics of the human need:- food , shelter and security . Everything else will fall in line if these three basics are given top priority.

How True- So close to the truth.

How True- So close to the truth
I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side

Non- Stop and Non- Rest

Non-stop and non-rest.On friday last, ie.on the 10th july, we left for Kuala Trengganu on the invitation of the Trengganu State Goverment. Were put up at one of the oldest and earliest hotel in town, close to the famous Pasar Payang. No complains, since it was a sponsored trip. What mattered was almost 70 of the teaching and general staff joined in on the weekend trip.Right from the word start till the last day, it had been a most memorable weekend trip. An ice breaking trip i would think.Everyone enjoyed themselves. So, if there were complains , i didn't hear them. Thanks to all the committee members of the staff club. They were all fantastic in making sure everything went smoothly as scheduled.

Day one was spent at the Masjid Kristal, beautiful architecture. The Taman Tamaddun nearby is worth a second visit. Perhaps with darling hubby and the children (?).Then it was to Pulau Kapas. a totally new experience for me. The long walk from the jetty to the chosen site was quite a distance. Thank god, the head was most sporting all the way.

The night was sitting dinner hosted by the host. wonderful and delicious dishes.Wonderful singing by the established crooners. of course i had to do the ridiculous towards the end of the session with a shake, shake your booty with Baanu and Suhana. Oh shucks, it was fun. What the heck, forget the protocol.

Alas, i had to take the earliest flight home the next day. Checked in at IAB around 4 pm on the same day.

Today is day two of the kursus. Quite an interesting one. Just that the lecturer tried to squeeze in too many things all at one time. Kinda of distorted, the finished product.Did my part in the mentoring session this afternoon. Everyone kinda surprised by my antics as a protege. In fact, outdid the mentor. Oh well, that's me at my best.

Heard from the lecturer the letter will be out soon. Not putting too much hope since apparently, almost the whole of the Kementerian people applied for the post. Am not surprised if cronyism and politics rules the day. Anyway, took up the offer by the BM. Thank you Che Som for doing all the sorting of documents.Que sera sera.

Tommorow is my last day at IAB. Am not looking forward to going back to routine work. Will be many more rounds of non-stop and non-rest.....

One of my favorite songs

Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?
I don't remember growing older
When did they?
When did she get to be a beauty?
When did he grow to be so tall?
Wasn't it yesterday
When they were small?
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears
What words of wisdom can I give them?
How can I help to ease their way?
Now they must learn from one another
Day by day
They look so natural together
Just like two newlyweds should be
Is there a canopy in store for me?
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

Beautiful lyrics to a beautiful song. I've always wanted to dedicate this song to my children when they are all grown up and married. Since you're the only one who is married, Aisyah dear, i am dedicating this song to you. Listen well.

Goodbye to another great icon

Didn't think that i could be greatly affected by the passing of MJ until i watched this morning's memorial service. He was kinda weird and freaky lately. But the showers of good words and also first hand information especially from Brooke Shields has revealed a side of him that was never made news material. Such a sad ending to a once great career. Once on top of the world with his brand of music, his moonwalk- white gloved and crotch grabbing moves copied all over the world by wannabes. Now that he is gone, people the world over are heaping praises and tributes to his great work and songs. But there is no denying that there will never be another MJ for the next 1oo years to come. He is one of a kind. A fantastic performer and person obssessed with perfections. And perfect he was, in his songs and dance moves , if not his personal life. Too much amplication of his personal life which was potrayed as weird and sometimes absurd.
The songs he sang and danced to are phenomenal. I can go on saying the same thing over and over again.
Come to think of it, almost all great individuals are mortalised early in their lives.

May God bless You, Rest in Peace MJ...

Almost there

It had been quite a week. started with the 6 persons team coming in to check on the examination files. Continued with meetings with the staff on two consecutive days. Quite hectic i must say. To top it all, there was the lessons that needed to be prepared before class. Thank God, my memories are still quite ok with the facts to convey to the students.
Then, the real test came on Thursday with the visit of an official from the district education office. I thought it was just a quick visit, ask, ask, ask, talk, talk, talk and then thank you and good bye. but it wasn't to be so. it was a thorough round the school, look here, look there, questions here, questions there. looking through all the files, questions here again, questions there again. It was an exhausting 4 hour thing. Was quite drained out by the end of the session , me and my subordinate. But it was worth it when she showed the end results. The total score read 97.8% !!! Bravo and congratulations to all of us.
It had been a most tiring first 2 months this year with everyone chipping in every possible way, revamping the filing system, each one doing their part. Though the exercise was tiring dan sapped most of our physical and mental energy, we all ploughed on. And the end results showed through and through. Nevermind mind if others thought that the scorings were too lenient. The official, i assumed is quite neutral in her judgement. Perhaps that person who voiced such an opinion was hoping for not a so good impression . After all , she has been making complaints after complaints, revamping and revamping everything possible under the sun. By the way things are going on, looks like she has been send to this school as a troubleshooter, to over haul the entire 'troubled' system, i pressume. Wonder who has been feeding information about the state of the school. If that be so, how come it is the envy of all other schools in the district?, still the choice amongst parents? and still producing quality results? Hmm.... I wonder. I sensed someone out there won't be too pleased with outcome of this visit. Too bad, better luck next time.
In the meanwhile, we are all going to hang on to the fact that we are good. Good as a team, good at producing and delivering results. With both feet still rooted to the ground, we are going to strive on and by doing so, the vision to be the best in the district could become a reality in the near future. Good luck to us all. Insyallah..
