Am at a cross road now. Don't know whether the decision I made yesterday was a wise one or not. Am enjoying the current state of my job. Not too hectic and fast paced as it used to be when I was at school. Here, I am able to take a breather in between sessions. For the first time in many years, I have some time to spare for myself, for my self improvement. I am able to read the Quran everyday for the past 13 days of Ramadhan during office hours, in between preparing reports and new lectures for the coming months. To be able to do things at a leisurely pace is a real bonus.
But then again, I am not sure I can see myself doing this for the next 3 years or so before retirement. I am used to doing things , making things happen, making decisions etc, which sometimes really put me in a spot. But having said that , that would be part and parcel of running an organisation, never mind if it is just at a school level. I take pride in what I have achieved in all my many years spent in school- blood, sweat and tears and all.
This is an opportunity for me to make a difference once again.I still stand by my thoughts that to make a difference one needs at least a solid 5 years period. But then again, like my dearest husband's remarks about me to his children- " your mum works best at last minute".
Perhaps it would be good to be able to end my career on the highest note possible. To go back to my roots, to where I belong. And my colleagues think I should do that too. And if it is true, perhaps it would be quite soon.
And perhaps too, if given that opportunity, I will be able to give much more.A year at this current working place, I have gathered a lot. A lot that perhaps will enable me to be a better equipped leader.
But then again, this could be just wishful thinking.
you should follow your heart and that little voice in your head.
