2.8.2021

11.30 pm

Restlessness.. Palpitations .. anxiousness  and nervousness ..

As soon as I finished my last prayers for the night, I fell asleep right away.  That was around 9.20 pm , I think.

At about 10.50 pm, I woke up  with this restlessness. So, back to the keyboard to sort out this thoughts. ..This is therapy for me.

Maybe it had something to do with today’s episode. A continuation of yesterday’s episode.

It had been quite a day for me.

So we did a test using the self test kit that was on the list approved by the MOH.

On Saturday we did our first test. Both my daughter and mine were negative in the results.

But things took a turn for the worst for my daughter. By late evening  her body  was running a temperature, her coughing were more intense. She complained of  a heavy head. I could not tend to her in person. She had began isolating herself as soon as she heard news from her employer that two of the kids at school contracted the deadly virus. That was on Friday evening.

Despite the results being negative, we decided to do a retest on Sunday. Saturday was  the first day of change in routines. Having the mask on at all times taking precautions by assuming that there could be a possibility of  poor sampling  on the first test. Meals were placed outside her bedroom door, communication was either by a knock on her door or via text messaging. So, by the time it was time to say goodbye to Saturday, I was extremely exhausted in body and mind.

It is not my routine to sleep after my suboh prayers but on Sunday morning, my body signalled a shutdown right after the suboh prayers

So, on Sunday afternoon  I was woken up with a message from her. She did a second test. ..  It read test positive.

So, how does one deal with the truth, the fact of the matter that a member of the family is now  a  part of the statistic  to the growing number of cases in the country?

So what next? Due to the increase in the number of new cases, new guidelines were put in place. Hospital beds and hospitals were now prioritised  according to the stage of infection, ranging from one ( mild no symptoms )  to five ( serious that needed ventilators)

So, what next for my daughter? Self-isolation at home or treatment at the  hospital? Based on the description  and guideline of stages of infection, my daughter’s condition fits the stage 3 description.  But we needed to confirm on that. So the next best thing was to fall back on others who went through it. One of the family in the neighbourhood contracted the virus and so my husband consulted him to help us  decide our next course of action. Apparently we had to go to the local Community Clinic to report  on this matter.

Reconfirmation needed to be  carried out at the clinic with another swab test. Once done, the results will be keyed in the data base of the My Sejahtera apps. And with that done, we will be contacted by the health officials  for further action, home confinement or hospitalisation.

But it was not an easy task. We tried many times on Monday morning to find out whether my daughter needed to be present at the clinic, since the established guideline was that once one is  positive with the virus, one need to immediately isolate from others. Going to the clinic would mean exposing her condition to others who are not in that state as yet.

That was what we thought!!

After several attempts, we decided to instead go to the clinic to make enquiry ( the clinic is about 5 km away from home)  We just needed to show proof of the results that we did  at home.

But little did we know that particular visit to the clinic on the morning of 2.8.2021 turned out to be our biggest mistake. The time spent at the clinic was about 2 hours. My husband did not anticipate that he was walking into a clinic that was filled with all positive persons, all came with the intention of verification and  medical attention. They were too many desks and checkpoints. He realised he was in deep trouble when he finally reached the doctor’s desk to be informed all present ( a few hundred of them) that he was surrounded with positive persons.

So back at the car, it was time for total sanitizing of himself and the  car’s interior. As soon he reached home, it was straight the bathroom.

And so, today a new episode unfolds. The children  video called. Apparently there was another new set of guidelines. Persons wishing verification and medical consultations need no longer go to the community clinic. Another option is that the private clinics have been roped in to help in this process. One can choose to go to selected private clinics and get tests done etc and later on the data will be immediately linked to the main data base. Even hospitalisation need not be at the hospitals. Hotels in the Klang Valley are now the new centre for patients that needed isolation and treatments. Of course that comes with a price. Its not free anymore.

So, the children unanimously agreed that their youngest sibling be verified by the private sector ( to speed up the process ) and maybe to ease the burden of their parents who are not in the early 30s anymore. Both of us are in the high risk group.

My eldest daughter told us of her friend ‘s experience who went to the process  of verification by the local community clinic. She waited for calls from the health officials. None came. She finally received a call from them once she finished her cycle of treatment and discharged from the hospital!!

So tomorrow 3.8. 2021 at 10.00 am, a team of medical assistants will make a house visit to not only get confirmation of my daughter’s results but also to get ours done too ( on our request)

What happen next? Only tomorrow will tell.

( 1.27 am, 3.8.2021)
