 10.10.2022

To my grandson  Ariq Hamzah bin Mohd Ali Mirza. It’s your birthday once again! . Happy 4th birthday ! Lots and love and hugs and kisses from Tok Sam and Tok Wan Zek.

Dear Hamzah,

As Tok Wan Zek write this,  Tok Wan Zek knows that you are still too young to be able to  read this notes. Still trying to recognise the alphabets ya…

But nevertheless Tok Wan Zek hopes that this note will one day be read by you. Tok hope that this ig account of tok’s will remain accesible to all my children and grandchildren and perhaps my great great grandchildren too, Insha Allah,  in many many years to come… Tok wan Zek will continue to pen my thoughts, my journey here and also on my personal blog . I need to pen down all my thoughts and memories before this memory faculty of mine starts to dealign , slowly …..

So, dear Hamzah… sweet Hamzah.. you  who would be around first thing in the mornings, almost everyday without fail. You would insist that your mum sends you asap…

‘“I wanna go to Tok Sam’s house”

That was in the early months when we first moved in here.In the early months of March of 2022, that is. Then slowly you would come with your brother Abu. At one time, Abu carried you!!  He knew you would tire from that 500m walk. He stopped many a times to reach 17. Trust Abu, the ever so thoughtful big brother. And of course Alya and Aqil too. Always looking out for you , the baby of the family. That my dear Hamzah..this iis what family is all about.Your mum and ba has raised all of you well.

I do not know at what age you will be reading this message…and when you do, whether you would remember your early childhood years.. Those mornings when Tok Sam would be fussing over you, making sure the cornflakes, the frosties, the honey stars , the cocoa crunchs were stocked up and ready to be consumed as soon as you arrived at 17.

Then lunch would be egg with rice, your staple menu ( lunch and dinner) . Tok Sam, the chef would whipped  up an egg, scrambled it in butter and than threw in about 4  tablespoon of rice and whalla! Lunch is served.  You would give that nice grin of yours… thank you Tok Sam! And remember when Tok Sam taught you to say please? Initially you were quite adamant not to utter those words, but Tok Sam stood his grounds. And soon, any request would be accompanied by the word ‘please’

Another trademark that  define  part of you is that you would put on  collared t-shirts. Remember? Do you still maintain that image? The Hamzah, in collared T-shirt, with a hat propped on your  head, and  sometimes the ocassional pair of black sunglasses! Oo la la.  Truly true to yourself.

So dear Hamzah, on this auspicious and many more auspicious days and years, Insha Allah, Tok wan Zed wish you happiness, good health may you grow up to be one-of-a kind handsome grandson! Stay true to yourself, be good, love your family,

May Allah guide you in every step of your life Allah will guide you every step of the way not only today as you celebrate your birthday, but every day of your life.
